Autorenporträt
John B. Christiansen is the author or co-author of four books and dozens of professional articles, book chapters, and scholarly presentations. Over the past half-century his research has focused on such areas as the socioeconomic status of deaf workers, the Deaf President Now protest, cochlear implants, and mass communication. A Wisconsin native, he received his bachelor's degree from Carroll College (now University) and his PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Riverside. He spent more than three decades teaching at Gallaudet where he is an emeritus professor; he was also named a distinguished university faculty member in 1998. In addition to post-retirement traveling and scholarly activities, he is an avid cyclist and especially enjoys riding his bicycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway near his home in Asheville, North Carolina.
