Cylindrical shell is the most important structural component of all existing shell s modals. It has been widely used in many engineering applications. They play imperative role in designing machines components and building structure. They are frequently used in almost every field of engineering and modern technology such as civil, aerospace, chemical, mechanical, naval, and nuclear etc. They have been extensively used for the purpose of load-carrying in the past and recently they have acquired a paramount and valuable place for their practical applications in constructing gas cylinders, pressure vessels, chimney design, core-barrels, grain silos, boilers, pipe lines, cooling towers of power stations, armour, arch dams, submarines, tunnels, missiles etc. With the advent of various fiber-reinforced, advanced laminated composites materials, the domain of application and range of structural efficiency of shells have increased. They are fabricated from advanced composite materials known as functionally graded materials to enhance their mechanical properties and to provoke them from structural failure. They possess heat shielding property and can with stand in high pressure environment.
