In this book I examine the Victorian issues as they are portrayed in Thomas Hardy's novels: Jude the Obscure, Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Two on a Tower; therefore, my main argument is divided into the issues of the three selected novels which cover different Victorian aspects or issues. The institution of marriage is the subject of Chapter One. The impact of the institution of marriage from social constraints and social structure. Chapter Two centers on the issue of the injustice of existence. This section provide an overview of how men dominating women, how the heroine suffers from the actions of others. Chapter Three traces social constraints and social structures. It explores one major Victorian issue regarding the rules of social decorum.
