Chaplain James Benton was a Corrections chaplain for the Department of Youth Services for twenty years in the state of Ohio when he retired in May 2010. He currently serves as the First Elder of the Fruit of the Spirit Seventh-day Adventist Church in Columbus, OH. He is married to the former Patricia L. Groves. He has two adult children and two grandchildren. Watching sports, especially basketball, is one of his favorite pastimes. He has a heart for ministry and a relentless desire to serve the Lord continuously.
