This volume "Vietnam in History and Transformation: Selected Readings" has been the first ever collection of papers written by the faculty of VNU-University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) with the aim to introduce some selected research results to international audiences. The content of the first volume covers a wide range of fields of social sciences and humanities, and it could be divided into two main parts, namely "Vietnam in History" of five papers focusing mainly on different topics on Vietnamese history and "Vietnam in Transformation" with coverage of six papers focusing on the transformation and renovation in Vietnam contemporary. This volume is the first try of the VNU-USSH in the process of reform and integration of the university to introduce the research capacity of its faculty worldwide and with one aim to build up it to became an excellent research university in the near future. Nguyen Van KHANH, is a Professor of History, got the PhD degree from Academy of Social Sciences, Soviet Union, in 1990. Pham Quang MINH is an Associate Professor in the field of History and Politics, completed the PhD program from Humboldt University, Germany in 2002. Tran Van KHAM got the PhD degree from the University of South Australia in 2012.
