The evolution of community based health mobilisation predicted a revolution in health service provision for the least developed economies of the world like in Sub Saharan Africa. Despite the cost effective alternative this health model comes with, most African governments have little or no effort to formalise it. The Village Health Workers remain the least facilitated and underfunded of all in the health service provision work force as preference is still given to the professionally trained workers. In this research project, the contribution of VHTs in a rural Ugandan district is highlighted and recommendations given to buttress and appreciate the immense work done by these gallant members of the land.
