Village Information System is one of small scale application which is integrated part of GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing. This application is designed to store the data in digital format and maintain the database related to that village. This system will be helpful in Administration process and also work as a Decision support system. VIS is a multipurpose system which help local government officers, policy makers, researchers and common person who is interested in the information. The data which was earlier maintained in hard copy documents now stored in digital format so that it will be preserved and used up to next generations. The data is related to Agriculture, Land Records, Ownership details, Economic minutes on land parcel, Crop detail, Tax information, Demographic structure, Social information, etc. This type of project is becoming the demand of time hence government is also proceeding in this direction (smart village). Savali is a small village which is a semi-urbanized settlement and growing very fast. If the same trend of development is continued very soon it may merge in the Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad Municipal Corporation.

Dr.Pradip Ashok Saymote, is working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Geography, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He obtained Masters, M. Phil, Ph. D. degrees. He is having 7 years industrial experience as a Team Leader & worked as GPS Engineer. Published 20 research papers & guided 32 P G students. Specilied in Geoinformatics,Urban Geography
