Vincent Lamar Carter (born January 26, 1977), better known as Vince Carter, is an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is currently a shooting guard/small forward for the Orlando Magic. Born in Daytona Beach, Florida, Carter was a McDonald's All-American basketball player in 1995, out of Mainland High School in Daytona Beach. After high school, he spent three seasons playing basketball at the University of North Carolina, before entering the 1998 NBA Draft. He won the 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, in which he competed alongside his third cousin and then-teammate, Tracy McGrady. He became the third player to lead the NBA All-Star Game fan voting three or more times, after Michael Jordan and Julius Erving, and helped lead the Toronto Raptors to three consecutive playoff appearances. In 2004, he was traded to the New Jersey Nets. In 2009, Carter, along with Ryan Anderson, was traded to the Orlando Magic.
