Amy Mathieson is presently better-known by her stage name Violet Mathieson. She trained for ballet as a youth. Her first acting role, whilst still a school pupil, was the role of Juliet at The International Festival of Culture in Toyama, Japan for the Crown Prince and Princess in a production supported by Sir Alec Guinness and Mark Rylance. She was selected from hundreds of schoolchildren to win the role. During her teenage years she also appeared at The National Theatre in London.
