Dessalegn Masrie is a seasoned journalist, media strategist, and diplomatic affairs analyst with a diverse and impactful career. His journey in media began in 2014 when he founded and served as the managing editor of The Weekend Business Magazine. Despite the challenges of running a media outlet with limited business experience, his drive led him to Addis TV, where he transitioned from a political and diplomatic affairs producer to a senior English news reporter. Over six years, Dessalegn produced hundreds of television programs addressing critical issues like the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and Nile politics. His notable work includes The Diplomatic Corner, a show that featured interviews with over 47 ambassadors, examining Ethiopia's diplomatic relations. This success extended beyond television as Dessalegn contributed to various media platforms, including ETV, DW, and Fana, as a political commentator, expanding his influence on national and international affairs. Dessalegn's academic credentials further complement his professional achievements. He holds a BA in Political Science and International Relations, an MA in International Relations and Diplomacy, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Peace and Security Studies at Addis Ababa University. His research and academic pursuits have deepened his understanding of Ethiopia's and Africa's socio-political challenges. Beyond his media career, Dessalegn serves as President of the Right for Education Africa-Ethiopia Chapter, overseeing contributions from over 50 Ethiopian authors and fostering intellectual development across 45 African countries.
