Virtual reality, once expensive and somewhat inaccessible, is now part of our daily lives. But even with today's technology, is total immersion in virtual reality possible or could it become possible? The aim of this book, the fruit of research into various sources, is to analyze current Virtual Reality technologies and speculate, based on the information gathered, on the possibility of total immersion in virtual reality. This will be done by first analyzing the old technologies that took the initial steps towards what we know today as Virtual Reality. Next, current Virtual Reality technologies will be analyzed and verified, and we will highlight which of them offer or could offer the capacity for total immersion. Finally, the technologies analyzed will be compared and we will conclude which of them achieves the goal of total immersion.
