The book is based on theoretical analysis of selected contemporary Nigerian writers's works. The four areas discussed in the book are personal and the political, religion, gender and language. The writers included are Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Helon Habila, Sefi Atta and Chris Abani; all of whom present themselves as true inheritors of Nigerian Literary tradition and heirs to Nigerian literary giant Chinua Achebe.

Samia Hanif is a lecturer at Government College University Lahore.She completed her Masters in English Literature from GCU Lahore (2008). Later she got an M.Phil degree in the same subject from GCU Lahore(2012). As a lecturer and research supervisor, she teaches intermediate and graduation classes. She currently resides in Lahore, Pakistan.
