The overall goal of vital pulp therapy is to preserve vitality and functionality of dentin pulp complex in a tooth Vital pulp therapy is defined as the treatment initiated to preserve and maintain pulp tissue in a healthy state.,the tissue that has been compromised by caries,trauma or restorative procedures..Its objective is to stimulate the formation of reparative dentin to retain the tooth as a functional unit. Teeth exhibiting provoked pain of short duration ,that is relieved upon the removal of the stimulus ,with analgesics ,or by brushing ,without signs and symptoms of irreversible pulpitis are candidates for vital pulp therapy.It goal is to form dentin bridge and continued root development.It includes indirect and direct pulp capping ,pulpotomy and apexogenesis.
