This is because language development in early childhood especially infancy and toddlerhood is an important aspect in this field. Language development determines children's future educational and social success. Performance in schools atall levels is related to the language foundation in the early childhood years. There has been a public outcry in Kenya over poor performance in language and other subjects in national examination.

Wanjohi Githinji is currently a TF pursuing Phd in ECD at Kenyatta University Department of ECS. He has an M.Ed in ECD. He has 19 years of service as an educationist with MoE Kenya. He has published ECD books with Longhorn Publishers in Kenya. He is widely read in ECD matters and a fast growing scholar, academician and consultant in ECD.
