Technological vocational education in Brazil is addressed in this book, especially the structural separation between basic and vocational education promoted by LDB 9.394/96. It also reflects the changes that took place in the early years of this century, which instituted the integration of vocational and general education through integrated secondary education. Throughout the text, these issues are related to training for work or for the world of work, in order to discuss - and lead the reader to reflect on - the meaning of work that should be defended and pursued by the school, so that society is offered not just an integrated education, but an integrated education that provides individuals with autonomy in all aspects of life. We understand that these individuals, far removed from the simplistic understanding of just learning to do, must become the authors of their history and not its hostages or objects.
