Billie F Harris represents much more than the game of softball: She provides an exceptional example of excellence in life. Billie is recognized in five different Halls of Fame: Arizona Softball Hall of Fame in 1979, National Softball Hall of Fame in 1982, Tucson Softball Hall of Fame in 1993, Arizona Sports Hall of Fame in 2010 and Arizona Slow Pitch. For over seventy years she has kept silent, only sharing when asked and even then, she have always felt the need to hold back. In this memoir she has enjoyed and at the same time she has felt a little embarrassed by the things that she is sharing for the very first. Her embarrassment is not about her, but for the actions that racism caused by those that had no clue to the harm that will be forever imprinted in her memories, even though 60 years has passed, racism appear like cancer to be incurable and is killing souls left and right. Thank goodness that sports bring people together if not but for a little while, maybe there is hope for us all to love and respect each other as souls and not color or race.
