Voices of Protest: Liberia on the Edge, 1974-1980 is a compilation of writings and speeches of Liberians who were in the forefront of the struggle for democratic change in their country during the period leading up to the military coup of 1980 that changed the course of Africa's oldest Republic. The writings and speeches show the sentiments of the people as they confronted a ruling group which had held power for over a century and was unwilling to carry out meaningful transformation that would meet the aspirations of the majority of the citizens.
