The National, representative study on living conditions among people with disabilities in Namibia is the result of an international cooperation between Southern Africa Federation of the Disabled (SAFOD), National Federation of People with Disabilities in Namibia (NFPDN), Norwegian Federation of Organisations of Disabled People (FFO), University of Namibia, Ministry of Lands, Resettlement and Rehabilitation (MLRR), and SINTEF. Organisations of people with disabilities and individuals with disabilities have played a key role during design development and implementation of the study. The research comprises a study on living conditions among households with/without disabled members, disability screening, specific questions to individuals with disabilities, and core concepts from the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). Results from this study demonstrated a systematic pattern in that individuals with disabilities and households with disabled members reported lower level of living on a number of indicators. Furthermore, the study demonstrated serious gaps in basic services for disabled people.
