The changed consumption behaviour of the clients of the addiction support centres in the Waldviertel poses new challenges for the staff working there. Among other things, an increased incidence of methamphetamine use has been observed. In addition to a theoretical discussion of crystal meth, this book provides an overview of the addiction support system in the Waldviertel and in the Czech district of Jindrichuv Hradec, which borders Waidhofen/Thaya and Gmünd. Special features of the treatment and therapy of clients who use methamphetamine are discussed and similarities and differences between Austrian and Czech addiction support workers are considered. The author aims to identify fields of support, services and necessary changes to optimise the quality of professional work with crystal meth users and offers suggestions for the local addiction support system.
