Wales Township is a civil township of St. Clair County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,986 at the 2000 census.According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 37.4 square miles (96.8 km²), of which, 37.3 square miles (96.7 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.05%) is water.As of the census of 2000, there were 2,986 people, 1,025 households, and 835 families residing in the township. The population density was 79.9 per square mile (30.9/km²). There were 1,059 housing units at an average density of 28.4/sq mi (10.9/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 95.75% White, 3.25% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.13% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.07% of the population.
