I was a baby when my mother died after the birth of the eighth child. Life was tough for my dad as he exercised his role as both father and mother. We lived in the country and had no plumbing and electricity; therefore, I was used to oil lamps and the outhouse. Dad was very strict, to the point that in my teen years I rebelled against his rules and the religious expectations. As you read this story, you may identify with my rebellion and the pain associated with an unwanted pregnancy. I was not ready to be a mother, and because of pride I suffered shame and loneliness. I was concerned what people thought about me. I identified the problems and decided to change my lifestyle. This story emphasizes all of this, but it doesn't end there. Deliverance is the theme of this book. Jesus is the answer in the valleys and mountains of life. I experienced the power of the Holy Spirit and my life was transformed immediately. (Psalm 103:12) For as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us. God was already there, preparing for my future, and He was present with me in Grenada and in my life in Canada. Walk With Me is a book to encourage readers. It is about a painful road full of obstacles, roadblocks and God's love, about earthly failures and heavenly redemption. If you are in a crisis, Jesus is the answer.

Autorenporträt
Doreen Volk grew up in Grenada with a very imaginative dad. She inherited his gift of storytelling. Through her rebellion she became pregnant, and later on, as a single mom, she moved to Canada to start a new life to leave behind her pain and shame. Her horizon in the new country expanded when she married a young man from the Netherlands. Doreen and her husband John have three children, six grandchildren and were foster parents of over 100 children in 25 years with the Guelph and Wellington County CAS. Further personal growth was obtained by becoming a successful businesswoman with a career in real estate. Her natural ability as a fashion designer is a uniquely attractive quality. Doreen has the gift of visualization that helps her with an idea to create something all on its own, and her gift of creativity as well as home staging. After a serious medical procedure, Doreen had a vision of a person standing at her bedside. This was the beginning of a life-changing encounter with her heavenly Father. Doreen's desire to share the gospel caused her to retire. She had many opportunities in mission, both at home and abroad, to share the love of Jesus. With the encouragement of her husband of 53 years, Doreen has written Walk With Me as a testimony about her life.
