Kathy McWhirter grew up in various parts of Canada and settled in Alberta near the Rocky Mountains, where the inspiration for Beyond Mountain Park originated. She published a memoir, Walking a Fine Line: pressing on through chronic illness, in 2009. Ms. McWhirter resides in Victoria, British Columbia, with her daughters and partner close by, surrounded by the beauty of nature.
