Guess that it must be an inside job as the robbers seemed to have exact knowledge of where the security cameras and cash were. They suspect war veterans and a search of the banks' personnel revealed that two veterans served together in Irag. Following one of the veterans leads Zuma to the V.A. Cemetery in Brentwood where 33 veterans are each given $300. Tailing this veteran leads Zuma to the home of Solomon Johnson and his wife Adair. Solomon, an ex marine is uncooperative about any bank robberies, but they do talk about their ambitious hardworking and talented daughter Aliya as well as the philanthropy they have set up for ex vets who need help and money comes from donations. Ailya tutors, goes to school dances works for the philanthropy. and is planning to go back east to a special dance school. A break comes when one of the robbers makes a large deposit and Zuma convinces him to make a deliver of cash to Solomon. Following Solomon leads Zuma to a known drug dealer in L.A. Alvin Duplex which fall under his old colleague Pat Vasquez who is asked to cooperate in exchange for a diminished charge of tax evasion. Duplex is eager to cooperate. After making a contribution to Solomons' philanthropy Duplex is murdered. A reward of $250,000has been set up by the parents of the two Latino Boys. Adair wants to confess so Solomon can collect the money for the philanthropy. She is convinced that her splendid war record will not earn her a severe sentence.

JEROME RABOW has been a professor of social psychology at UCLA for thirty years and lectures at California State University Northridge. He has written nine books and over one hundred articles on sociology, social psychology, education, and racism. He is cofounder and president of the Center for the Celebration of Diversity through Education. He and his wife, Roslyn, have five children and four grandchildren and live in Los Angeles. He is the author of "Oceans Apart", the first in the series of murder mysteries following Detective Joe Zuma and his sidekick Detective Pat Vasquez.
