Afshon Ostovar is an Associate Professor at the Naval Postgraduate School and a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute. He is the author of the award-winning Vanguard of the Imam: Religion, Politics, and Iran's Revolutionary Guards (Oxford, 2016), and a frequent contributor to Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, the Washington Post, and War on the Rocks , among other outlets.
