Groundwater is ultimate and most suitable fresh water resource for human consumption in both urban and rural area. The quality of groundwater is vital concern for man kind as most of the population in India is dependent on groundwater. Being an important an integral part of the hydrological cycle, its availability depends on rainfall and recharge conditions. Groundwater is believe to be comparatively much clean and free from pollution than surface water. But prolonged discharge of industrial effluents, domestic sewage & solid waste dump causes the groundwater to become polluted & created health related problems. Hence, there is always a need for and concern over the possible protection and management of groundwater quality. Any imbalance in its physical & chemical properties beyond permissible limit would be harmful for the whole ecosystem.
