"All take and no give", our parasitic relationship with the sea in recent centuries has had the effect of causing a huge deficiency of organic material. This offers a plausible explanation for the many changes that we are seeing today in marine life. Nutrient depletion has been insidious and continuous, and the effect is noticeably worse in ocean areas farther from the main lands. The present investigation encompasses a quick overview of the nutritional aspects at some geographical points of the Bay of Bengal during spring period. Some physio-chemical parameter and concentration of mineral nutrients in subsurface water and surface sediment were recorded. The findings shows that, there is no significant differences in nutrient's distribution throughout the coastal oceanic zone of Bangladesh specially in the fishing ground areas of the Bay of Bengal. Till now there is no available report on physico-chemical parameter's of subsurface water and surface sediment off Bangladesh coast. Therefore, the present study would be a baseline reference for developing water and sediment quality index of the coastal-oceanic zone of the Bay of Bengal.
