Monthly variation in some selected water quality parameters and zooplankton of three ponds in Chittagong University campus were studied in the year 2011 from January to March. All the ponds are biotically affected by various anthropogenic factors. In the present study, water characteristics of three ponds have been compared. The water quality parameters studied were temperature, pH, colour, turbidity, and abundance of zooplankton. The results indicate that the pond-3 contains lower temperature, green in water colour, decreased turbidity and highest growth zooplankton for dumping waste materials and household garbage. On the basis of analyzed parameters, it is evident that pond-1 and pond-2 is moderate in temperature, pH, colour, turbidity, and abundance of zooplankton.
