This research is intended to be a contribution to the problem of water and its relationship with local development in the Dir of Beni-Mellal. The general context is that the planet earth in general and the Mediterranean area in particular are experiencing climate change and suffer the effects of global warming. This is reflected in the frequency of long periods of drought and irregular rainfall, as well as an obvious variation from one year to another. The territory of the Atlas of Beni Mellal knows successive periods of drought both at the level of the Dir and the mountainous region. This has as a consequence a decrease in the quantities of water from the springs, on the Dir level and in the neighboring regions. In addition, the territory subject of our study knows the iteration of extreme climatic events such as floods and drought.
