Therefore, water scarcity results from a combination of natural and social factors. The presence of water scarcity has troubled us for too long. Despite the efforts of the concerned authorities, everywhere, everybody is facing a shortage of water. How to measure it? What is the magnitude of it? Where does the solution lie? This work is a humble attempt to answer these and other important questions concerning water scarcity.

The author is Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi on ad-hoc basis. He is pursuing PhD in Geography from University of Delhi. His research interests include Natural Resource Management, Regional Planning and Development, Urban Geography and Remote Sensing and GIS.
