Water Resource Users Association (WRUA's) are basin based level local communities' institutions that are mandated by the Water Act 2002 with the role of harmonizing water allocations among the three major competing water users; namely domestic, agriculture/industrial and ecology/environment. WRUA's regulate the base flow to ensure that the downstream ecosystems are maintained. In order to assess the performance of River Ragati's WRUA, this study sought to determine effects of water abstraction projects along River Ragati on the availability of water for domestic, agriculture, and ecology. Specific objectives of this study were: to determine effect of water withdrawal for domestic on agriculture, determine effect of water withdrawal for agriculture on domestic, and determine effect of water withdrawal for domestic and agriculture on ecology. The study was conducted in Kagochi sub-location targeting a population of 400 household heads.
