John Curtis Ager is a democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the 115th district. John and his wife, Annie Clarke Ager, live in Fairview. They manage the Historic Sherrill's Inn as an event and wedding venue. Ager assists Annie and her sister, Susie Hamilton, with the Hickory Nut Gap Farm Camp. Ager is also a land manager at the farm, managing for exotic species, clearing and building trails, and managing the forests. He attended Williams College from 1967-1971 receiving a BA in American history. He received a teaching certificate from UNC Asheville. He is the co-author of Cabins and Castles: History & Architecture of Buncombe County.
