Swagata Dutta erwarb einen Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Werkstoff- und Metallurgietechnik an der Universität für Technik und Technologie von Bangladesch (BUET). Anschließend absolvierte er seinen Magister der Naturwissenschaften (MSc.) in Materialwissenschaften an der Technischen Universität Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH), Deutschland.
