War leaves little of value in its wake. Foremost among its meager gifts is the bond of friendship between men, forged in adversity and tempered by the loss and sting of battle. It is ironic that the worst of man's endeavors should yield one of humanity's purest products. Over 2.7 million men and women served in Viet Nam. For most veterans of Vietnam, service in that conflict was a bittersweet experience. They have fond memories of the strong bonds of friendship they shared and are embittered by the loss of friends and the rejection they experienced when they returned home. 'Welcome Home' explores all of these emotions in a humorous and poignant story that showcases the often untold story of the bond and affection men share with each other.
