Autorenporträt
Igor Krivtsun is a Professor, Director of the E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He is a noted scientist in the field of gas discharge physics and theory of welding processes. He made a prominent contribution to development of the above research areas. His basic studies are dedicated to investigation of the physical phenomena occurring in the low-temperature technological plasma (welding arcs, plasma jets, optical and other types of gas discharge), as well as processes of interaction of the electric arc plasma and laser radiation with a material treated under conditions of arc, plasma, laser and hybrid welding, surfacing and coating. His research interest includes hybrid laser-plasma processes of welding and materials treatment. He worked out the theory of interaction of the focused laser beam and arc plasma with the condensed media, which made it possible to describe from the common standpoints the processes of the arc (plasma), laser and combined laser-plasma effects on compact and dispersed materials. Prof. Krivtsun is a full member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and a member of the ASM International. He actively cooperates with various R&D institutions of different countries, regularly presents scientific reports at prestigious national and international conferences and participates in accomplishment of a number of international research projects. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Paton Welding Journal. He has more than 300 scientific publications, including 5 monographs and 18 patents. Fuad Khoshnaw is a senior academic and researcher at the School of Engineering and Sustainable Development at De Montfort University in the United Kingdom, where he has served as a senior lecturer since joining in 2018. He holds a PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from Loughborough University, UK, which he was awarded in 2010. Dr Khoshnaw is also recognized as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK. In 2005, he became a Chevening Scholar, joining the Chevening Technology Enterprise (CTES) program and completing the Innovation and Technology course at London Business School, UK. To date, Dr Khoshnaw has published over 70 papers in fields including welding, corrosion, biomaterials, additive manufacturing, fracture mechanics, and failure analysis, and he has edited six books on welding and corrosion. Dr Khoshnaw is also an active member of several international editorial boards and serves as a reviewer for academic books and journal submissions. His roles include Reviewer for Advanced Engineering Materials (Wiley), Reviewer for Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials (Emerald), Reviewer for the Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance (Springer Science, ASM International), Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Energy Production and Management (WIT Press, UK), Reviewer and Editorial Board Member for the Independent Journal of Management and Production (Brazil), and others. Ganna Polishko is an Associate Professor, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, Head of Department at the E.O. Paton Institute of Electrical Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. She is a scientist in the field of processes of special electrometallurgy, electroslag metallurgy, secondary metallurgy, composite and nanomaterials and additive technologies. She studies cleanliness and properties of steels and alloys, behaviour of non-metallic inclusions and metallographic investigations. Her research interests include evaluation of weldability of high alloy steels, advanced high-strength steels, railway steels, power steels and titanium alloys. Dr. Polishko held the position of Associate Professor at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" and was an invited lecturer at the University of Lorraine in France. She was a co-editor of the monograph based on the results of the VIII International Conference of Young Scientists on Welding and Related Technologies (WRTYS 2015) and the Proceedings of the IX International Conference of Young Scientists on Welding and Related Technologies (WRTYS 2017). She has served as the head and member of the organising committee for a number of international conferences, including WRTYS 2013, WRTYS 2015, WRTYS 2017, ADMET 2016, ADMET 2018 and WRT 2024. She has also authored over 90 scientific publications and holds two patents. Serhiy Schwab is a Senior Researcher, Department of Metallurgy and Welding of Titanium Alloys, E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine. He is a specialist in the development of materials and technologies for welding, surfacing and additive manufacturing of titanium and its alloys. He earned a PhD at the E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the NAS of Ukraine in 2018. He earned a master's at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" in 2009. He was a lecturer in the Kyiv Mechanical and Technological College (Ukraine) in 2014-2016. Dr. Schwab has received numerous awards from the NAS of Ukraine and from the mayor of Kyiv. He was a co-editor of the monograph is based on the results of VIII International conference of Young Scientist 'Welding and Related Technologies' (WRTYS 2015) and the Proceedings of the IX International conference of Young Scientists on Welding and Related Technologies (WRTYS 2017). He has published 20+ articles. He has participated with scientific presentations in important scientific conferences, including those under the auspices of the International Institute of Welding (annual Assemblies). For special merits he received scholarships from the President of Ukraine and from the NAS of Ukraine for young scientists. He is the organizer of a number of conferences: WRTYS 2017, WRT 2018, YPIC and WRTYS 2021 and WRT 2024.
