Alice MacKinnon is a wellbeing ninja who specialises in helping people flourish from the inside. She is an Emotional Freedom coach and mentor with both a private and community-based practice. Evidence-Based Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or Clinical Tapping is central to this work.She is a corporate speaker, trainer and facilitator in wellbeing, mindfulness as a martial art, and emotional freedom. She is also a qualified and experienced qigong, yoga and fitness instructor and hosts in-person group sessions on the Northern Gold Coast. Many of her pre-recorded sessions are also freely available on YouTube. Alice's work focuses on taking worthy ideas like mindfulness and wellbeing and helping people to embody them in integrated, dynamic, hands-on ways so they are go-to practices in the real-time rough and tumble of daily life at home work, in family and in community.Alice is a practitioner of meditation, yoga, qigong, surfing, fitness, and journaling - these are the foundations of her flourishing life. She is also a student of zen and a member of Zen Open Circle based in Australia.Together, Alice and her wife Jennifer Jefferies (internationally renowned speaker and naturopath) host the Smart & Sassy Seniors project - a podcast, live events and social media offerings. In 2023, in collaboration with the Surf Witches Boardriders Club, Alice and Jen created the documentary film "Taking Off: Tales of Older Women Who Surf" which is freely available online. Alice's formal qualifications include a PhD in Adult Education (UTS), Masters of Applied Science in Social Ecology (UWS), Graduate Diploma of Education (UNSW), Bachelor of Arts in Journalism (UTS). She is also an accredited EBEFT Practitioner, and yoga, qigong and fitness instructor. For six years in her early 50s she was a surfing instructor on the Gold Coast helping mostly middle-aged and older women grasp their dream of surfing Alice is also delighted mum, grandmother, sister and aunty.
