Working from microfilm copies of the original records now in the custody of the Municipal Archives of Amsterdam, Holland, Mrs. Livsey--for each of the 70,000 transactions that took place between 1825 and 1835--supplies the name of the purchaser, the date of the transaction, the location of the land, the type of transaction (original article, subsequent receipt, or renewed contract), and a reference to the original source and the microfilm. Many of the settlers listed in the Land Tables ultimately moved away without ever recording a deed. Thus, this work not only identifies 70,000 pioneers of western New York, it also identifies thousands of people whose names were never recorded in official county land records. And with a date and a location, researchers can also examine other Company records on microfilm, such as correspondence and financial records.
