Writer and illustrator Mary Richards is passionate about craft, curiosity and creativity! She spent many years working in London art galleries including Tate, and enjoys testing out her art activities at children's workshops. Mary is the author of the Take Me series of guided journals, which launched in 2019. Her most recent book, A History of Music for Children (Thames & Hudson) was published in 2021. Mary has also written Splat: The Most Exciting Artists of All Time (Thames & Hudson), The Modern Art Journal (Tate Publishing), and is co-author of ArtSongs, a set of songs about art and artists (with David Schweitzer) for Tate. Mary was Art Publisher at the Hayward Gallery and an Editor at Tate Publishing. She lives in London with four children, two cats, four chickens, and a large collection of Lego.
