Early childhood education is an important part of our education system in America. Literacy plays a vital role in these classrooms. Learning the concept of reading at a young age will enhance their academic success, which will help them be successful through their school years. Books play a vital role in the classroom to encourage a love of reading. During preschool and kindergarten, parents are encouraged by the teachers to read to their child daily. Reading material that contains information and is not just a story encourages critical thinking skills which will help these students achieve higher goals at school.

Born in North Wales, I grew up in England, and emigrated to California as an adult where I raised my three children. Currently working in administration with the non-profit Head Start Pre-School program here in California. I enjoy being around 3 and 4 year olds, and assisting with their education. I have been writing poetry for over 20 years, and appreciate the gift I have been given in bringing joy to others that read my work, young and old.
