"What Is it, Grandma?" is a heartwarming and humorous story about a young girl and her relationship with her grandparents. Addy's grandparents lived several hours away and weren't able to come often, but when they did it was exciting! Grandma usually brought a special surprise; a foreign coin, a sharks tooth, a sparkly necklace or a new book. Addy loved thinking about what Grandma might bring her and on this visit Grandma had her guess what the surprise was. It was truly the best surprise of all!

Mary Campbell is a former elementary school art teacher from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and loves being a grandma. When she isn't playing with her best friend, Bounder, she can be found happily painting in her little studio in the woods. Mary and her husband John enjoy canoeing, hiking, and biking in the great outdoors. Bounder, the dog in this story, is a curious and energetic young English cream golden retriever who likes to keep her owners guessing what she will do next. Jane Melloy is a retired teacher and counselor. She and her husband Mike have three daughters who live several hours away with their families. What Is It, Grandma? was inspired by the fact that they don't get to visit as often as they would like and a special visit with their granddaughter, Addy. Jane enjoys traveling, reading, gardening, painting, and volunteering in her community. Jane lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
