Diane Calkins is a writer, mother of two, grandmother of two, and committed animal welfare advocate. Early on, her husband Chris realized she regularly encounters homeless animals. They've shared their home with a sickly kitten she found on a sidewalk, an injured duck named Bob, a white rabbit on a golf course, a blind cat in a box, and a huge dog at a gas station. As a result, they have shared their home with a steady and varied stream of companion animals. In 2019, Diane made her first foray into children's literature with "One Happy Chicken" and followed that with "A Very Naughty Beagle Named Bonnie." She is also working on a memoir called "An Ark of Sorts.".
