Rather than allowing basketball to be seen solely through the lens of competition and business, Jim Blissitt III seeks to remind readers of basketball's potential to promote health, teamwork, resilience and mentoring. The young boy in this story is very similar to many of the boys and girls Blissitt has been so fortunate to work with as a counselor, educator and coach.
