Shootings, killings, kidnappings, hostage situations-mass casualty events have become the norm across the globe. When a mass casualty occurs, shock follows pandemonium. Within an arc of just minutes there is confusion, chaos, terror. And then there are the wounded and the dead. But there is a way to survive these unfathomable tragedies. Renowned expert Travis Bruyer, Hollywood's go-to consultant regarding terrorism, firearms, law enforcement, and police tactics shows readers how they can get out alive. Heralding preparedness as a forerunner of safety, Travis offers a step-by-step guide to surviving an armed intruder, discussing the value of identifying, pinpointing, and managing threatening situations, as well as the importance of trained school and business office policymakers and administrators, quick decision-making, and the ability to take the appropriate life-saving action when confronted-be it run, hide, or fight. Ignorance, a precursor of catastrophe, can leave you in the dark: unsure, frightened, immobilized. However, once you're armed with the knowledge Travis provides, you'll be able to see your way to safety. In today's violent, uncertain world, When the Shooting Starts is the one book everyone should read.
