Matthew Welp was born and raised in Norwalk, Iowa. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. After graduation, Matthew returned to Iowa, where he met his amazing wife, Whitney. Matthew wrote "When Was the Last Time?" when he was 30 years old. The writing of it had a lot to do with his grandpa, a wonderful man who passed away in 2007 after a tough battle with dementia. Through the ups and downs, Matthew is grounded by his family. He is uplifted by his friends. He is inspired by Whitney.
