Their plans go awry almost immediately, firstly when they learn the old outpost they'd planned to refurbish was completely destroyed by dark magics long ago, and then find themselves arrested whilst inspecting the wreckage. Their incarceration is brief, as they are called upon to roust a band of thieves who stole the dowry chest from a wedding party that very night. The thieves vanquished and the dowry returned, Arnath, Trellith, Shrakar and Garthe find themselves the heroes, and henceforth de-facto protectors of tiny Kroman's Town, a quaint town hidden away from the eyes of the kingdom by a giant, rocky mound. The construction of the new outpost becomes an adventure unto itself, for alongside that monumental task our heroes find themselves making new friends, swept up in new romances and embroiled in the ever-deepening mystery of the arcane forces that destroyed the original outpost, something that still looms in their own backyard.
