When Cleo Robertson was growing up her mother told her she could do anything she wanted. At the age of 42, she was broke, unemployed and living in the black district of Princeton, New Jersey. She had worked for a hospital consulting firm as a secretary for five years and she put together fifteen long-range plans-she knew how hospitals worked. In 1980 she got an SBA loan and bought an $8000 PC which she taught herself to use. By 1983 she had designed quality management software with Duke University Medical Center. By 1993 she retired from her very successful business, CBR Associates, Inc. This story is about the whims she acted on, the people who helped, and the persistence she had to make it all happen.
