Gerald Battle has been called a Renaissance Man. Whether true or not, he has been a naval officer, conservation officer, adult educator, furniture maker, wood carver, painter, and sailor. But most of all, he has been a writer. He was a so-so Christian for the first part of his life until he met Jesus in a near-death experience, and while engaged in the above activities began to pay more attention to spiritual concerns. He has been a lector for thirty years, a retreat leader, a leader in church activities, and a strong proponent for small-group Christian sharing. He has authored many management-training programs, has published a book of experiences while a conservation officer, and his articles also have been published in two different magazines.
