David Whitley wurde 1984 geboren, studierte englische Literaturwissenschaft in Oxford und träumte schon immer vom Schreiben. Bereits mit siebzehn Jahren wurde für den "Kathleen Fidler Award" nominiert, und mit zwanzig gewann er den "Cheshire Prize for Literature". Neben der Literatur fasziniert David Whitley aber auch das Theater, und er tritt außerdem immer wieder als Sänger in verschiedenen Produktionen auf. Seine auf drei Bände angelegte Serie um die beiden jugendlichen Helden Lily und Mark und die geheimnisvolle Welt Agoras wurde von Lesern und Presse gleichermaßen begeistert aufgenommen.
