Penny McFarlane works as a clinical supervisor and trainer for counsellors and arts therapists. Formerly a mainstream teacher, she qualified as a dramatherapist and then spent twenty-five years bringing dramatherapy into education. Rebecca Jarvis graduated with a first class BA(Hons) in Illustration at University of Plymouth, UK.

This set contains: Who's Afraid of the Monster? an illustrated storybook written in verse that introduces children to a monster who no one can see or hear, a king who pretends to be brave and strong but is actually very scared, and a cheeky mouse and boy who have all the answers. The story addresses children's hidden fears and anxieties, and how to manage the feelings associated with these fears. A companion guide for use by primary educators, support staff and all those working with children. It is divided into three parts: Part 1 presents the theory behind how and why Big Feelings in children arise and why Creative Art and Drama techniques work better with small children than Talking Therapies. Part 2 contains activities and exercises with photocopiable instructions. A list of resources for each activity as well as guidelines for safe working are also given. Part 3 offers further activities and ways in which to exploit the story such as discussion points, plays, models etc.
