And what is the role that language policy measures and anti-discriminatory actions play in this process? This volume deals with the topic of identity formation in the Slavic region. It opens with an extensive general introduction to the topic of identity. In its core part, measures meant to enable politically correct speech and anti-discriminatory language are presented for different Slavic languages and cultural spheres. Political correctness, antidiscrimination, and antisexism play an important role in the Slavic region when it comes to influencing language and the use of language. Three additional papers concern Ukrainian-Russian mixed speech and textology of literary works in Russian.
Dennis Scheller-Boltz is a linguist and translator. His research interests include gender linguistics, semanto-pragmatics, word formation, equivalence problems and conversational strategies in intercultural communication. He has worked at the universities of Opole, Innsbruck and the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and has held visiting professorships in Edmonton, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Warsaw, Moscow, Chelyabinsk and Wroclaw. Tilmann Reuther studied Russian linguistics and mathematics in Vienna and Slavic linguistics in Klagenfurt. From 2004 until 2018 he was professor of Russian linguistics at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria. At present he is co-leader of a joint Austrian-German project on the linguistic situation in Southern Ukraine.
