Alan E. Bessette is a mycologist and professor of biology at Utica College of Syracuse University. His books include Edible and Poisonous Mushrooms of New York, Edible Wild Mushrooms of North America, and Mushrooms of Northeastern North America. Arleen R. Bessette has contributed recipes for the book, Edible Wild Mushrooms of North America, and is the author of Taming the Wild Mushroom: A Culinary Guide to Foraging. William K. Chapman, a biology teacher and member of the adjunct faculty at Utica College of Syracuse University, is author of Orchids of the Northeast and coauthor of Wildflowers of New York State in Color. Valerie A. Chapman is author of Wildflowers of New York State in Color. Her photography has been published in Birds of the Adirondacks and Mammals of the Adirondacks.
